In 2009 the festival is held for the 35th time and this time Finland stands host for the event. Thousands of dancers and musicians from the Nordic countries are participating in the festival. The programme will be very many-sided with cosy workshops, exiting folk music concerts, merry dancing performances, trips to different locations nearby and so on. Last time NORDLEK was held in Finland was in 1997 in Vaasa - and the quite similar festival for children and youth, BARNLEK, was held in Lahti in 1992.

The following countries and areas are participating in NORDLEK 2009: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, the Åland Islands and Finland. A big number of participators from outside Scandinavia is also attending the festival, from America, Australia and various European countries.

Folk dancing groups for disabled people, mainly from the Nordic countries, are participating in the festival on the same conditions as all other dancers and musicians." ,"ATTN!
